In a Cox model with a 40% decrease of plasma CZ levels as a dichotomous time-varying explanatory covariate, the risk ratio is 6 (95% confidence interval = 2-19, p = 0.003). Within the first 2 years, relapse-free survival curves illustrate that both groups (episodes under elevated risk and episodes not under elevated risk) had identical relapse patterns, but from then on the relapse risk increased rapidly in the group with longer exposure to elevated risk. Two patients relapsed, although their plasma levels decreased by more than 40% for less than 12% of the observation period. Eight patients of this group relapsed, and three of these had to be rehospitalized. In 12 of these, the decrease was present for more than 12% of the observation period. Seventeen patients had a plasma level decrease of more than 40% at some point. Within 46 months of enrollment, 32 episodes of relapse events in 10 patients were available for evaluation. The effect of plasma CZ levels on clinical outcome was evaluated by a Cox regression with plasma level as a time-dependent covariate. Plasma levels were considered a prognostic factor, and patients were defined as at increased risk if plasma levels decreased by more than 40% from baseline CZ plasma level. Relapse was defined as clinical deterioration, hospitalization, or both. When the patients were enrolled, they were considered to be prone to relapse. These baseline plasma levels were considered as the optimal relapse-preventing plasma CZ levels in the individual patients. Within 4 months, the baseline CZ plasma level was established as the mean of CZ levels from at least four subsequent measurements. At the time of enrollment, the median BPRS total score was 29 points (range, 19-48). Patients were enrolled after complete remission of positive symptoms for at least 4 months according to the psychosis cluster of the BPRS and at a mean of 3.3 years after their last hospitalization. Every 4 weeks, psychopathology was assessed by the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), and plasma CZ and norclozapine levels were measured. Twenty-three outpatients with schizophrenia (ICD-10 F20.xx) treated with clozapine (CZ) as monotherapy entered a prospective study on relapse prevention.

Read More: What Does Antivirus Software Do? Heuristics is about detecting virus-like behavior or attributes rather than looking for a precise virus signature that matches a signature on the virus blacklist. Files run in Comodo containment are kept in a sandbox environment, separate from your operating system. If suspicious code is detected then the antivirus deletes the file or recommends it for containment. Heuristic detection describes the method of analyzing the code of a file to determine if it contains code commonly found in malware. Modify the code slightly, and the malware is rendered undetectable.Ĭomodo Antivirus also uses heuristic detection and containment to ensure that even unknown malware cannot compromise our users’ computers. Like a wanted outlaw in the old west, a cybercriminal can disguise a piece of malware to avoid detection. This process is executed quickly and is an essential feature of an antivirus software, but it is also easy for cybercriminals to evade. Specific detection works by scanning a file for a specific set of characteristics and checking these characteristics against a known list of malware. This is what most people think of when they think about how an antivirus works. The most basic detection process is known as specific detection. Most modern antivirus programs feature multiple scanning detection processes. If you have issues adding a device, please contact us.Whenever you download or launch a file, an antivirus program scans the file for malware. Learning new skills via LP tends to also require certain attribute levels and Elexit (money), as well. Otherwise, you'll want to find and focus on learning the skills right for your build. You may wish to ignore these entirely if you don't plan on using magic. Most of these are rather self-explanatory, but if you're light on lore and/or didn't play the first game, understand that Alb, Berserker, and Morkon are different kinds of magic inspired by different factions. Trainers will teach you new abilities, both passive and active, across several categories: Learning Points are spent with trainers found around the world, usually in towns and other hubs of civilization amid the post-apocalyptic wreckage. You'll also receive one Learning Point (LP) per level, but these require a bit more work. Every time you level up, you'll receive 10 AP to spend as you wish. Your hero, Jax, can be improved in categories such as strength, constitution, dexterity, intelligence, and cunning. Attribute Points (AP) are unlocked 10 at a time, and like in games such as Fallout, can be spread across a number of skills as you see fit. The image also indicates that the planet reflects a significant amount of the incident starlight it receives. The black region is a data processing drop out. The night side is colder than the day side.” The temperatures shifted from 279 to 165 C (535 to 326 degrees F.) This figure from the study is a global heat map of exoplanet GJ 1214b. “There’s a lot of contrast between day and night. “The ability to get a full orbit was really critical to understand how the planet distributes heat from the day side to the night side,” Kempton said. Its observations created a heat map of the planet that showed both day and night sides, illuminating more details of its atmosphere. The JWST’s powerful MIRI instrument was brought to bear on the planet as it orbited its star. But in this case they followed the planet through almost an entire orbit. The starlight passes through the atmosphere and the light is analyzed to sense chemical constituents and other characteristics. Ordinarily, astronomers train telescopes on an exoplanet as it transits in front of its star. Kempton and her co-authors went beyond a typical exoplanet observation. “The atmosphere just remained totally hidden from us until this observation.” “The planet is totally blanketed by some sort of haze or cloud layer,” said lead author Kempton. Considering all this, it makes sense that astronomers wanted to use the JWST to study it further. But any further detail was hidden by the planet’s thick layer of haze or clouds. It was the first mini-Neptune found that has an atmosphere, and only the second one where the mass and radius were determined. The atmosphere is probably escaping hydrodynamically, indicating that it has undergone significant evolution during its history.” In the paper presenting its discovery, the authors wrote “We find that the planetary mass and radius are consistent with a composition of primarily water enshrouded by a hydrogen-helium envelope that is only 0.05% of the mass of the planet. It’s about eight times more massive than Earth, and about 2.75 Earth radii. Follow-up observations with the Hubble suggested it was a waterworld with a thick, steamy atmosphere. The MEarth Project found GJ 1214 b, its only planet, with the transit method in 2009. Gliese 1214 is a red dwarf star about 40 light years away in the Ophiuchus constellation. Aldaron – Own work, incorporating public domain images for reference planets (see below), inspired by Thingg’s size comparison, CC BY-SA 3.0, As this image shows, GJ 1214 b is intermediate in size between Earth and Neptune. Mini-Neptunes are sometimes called Super-Earths. That judicious process led one team of astronomers to GJ 1214 b (Gliese 1214 b.) They observed the mini-Neptune with the JWST’s MIRI and Low-Resolutions Spectrometer and published their results in a paper in Nature titled “A reflective, metal-rich atmosphere for GJ 1214b from its JWST phase curve.” The lead author is Eliza Kempton, a researcher at the University of Maryland. But with so many exoplanets begging to be studied, astronomers using the JWST have to choose their targets judiciously. In my plans, I left a small gap between the top of the 2×2″ boards and the top of the horizontal planks – this was done in case you wanted to add a shelf to your DIY Christmas tree stand to raise it off of the ground (it gives your tree another ~18″ of height). Sand smooth and it’s ready for paint (or stain). I believe this is the photo of my way-to-big version, but you get the idea. Set your mitre saw angle to 5° and cut.Īttach the long boards to the sides of the 2×2 posts, covering the end cuts of your shorter boards. (The same as we did in step 1) This will give you your 5° angle. Mark 3/8″ on either side of what will be your top board and draw a line from the mark down to the bottom corner of the base board. (Reset your mitre saw to 0) and cut 8 boards to 21″ long. Now it’s time to cut and attach the long sides of your DIY Christmas tree stand. If you did understand what I was trying to say, you should have two pieces that look like the above photo. See how the angled cut makes the 2×2 line up with the outside edge of your long boards and the bevel cut leans those boards inwards when standing.Ĭlick over to Jaime’s plans if that was a mess of words and you have no idea what I’m talking about. Repeat on both sides, lining up your 2×2 with the edge of your long boards. The 5° angle will keep it lined up with the angled sides of your long boards. The 2×2 should lean back but remain upright (if it tips forwards, you’ve got it backwards. Leave your mitre saw angled at 5° and move your bevel to 5° – again, if it’s easier to visualize, mark 3/8″ up on one side of your 2×2 and then draw a line from that mark to the bottom corner opposite.Īttach the 2×2 board to the back of your long boards with 2″ wood screws. Once you have the line drawn on all four boards, it’s easier to know where your 5° angle cuts should be. To make life easier, I lined up my boards, marked the top board in ¾” on either side and then drew a straight line from the ¾” mark to the bottom corner of the base board. Make a 5° angle cut on your mitre saw on both short ends of the boards. I knew I was going to paint it, so wood type etc didn’t really matter to me – if you’re planning on staining yours, you’ll want to have nice, matching, boards.įirst up, line up your 19 ¼” boards as below. I made my DIY Christmas tree stand entirely out of scrap wood – so you’ll see my wood is different colours and in some cases, slightly different thicknesses. If you don’t have a mitre saw that can cut angles and bevels, don’t worry – I’m including measurements so you can still join in. This project is going to give you a little practice with the angles and bevels on your mitre saw. (the tree stand that came with my tree is 23″ by 23″ when the legs are open in their “X” pattern – I believe this is standard for most 7.5′ trees) Please measure your tree stand before starting to make sure my plans aren’t too big or too small for your tree. Once I guesstimated the size of my tree stand – and then built a giant monstrosity that could hold two trees – and then the second time I did it right. I’m showing my building plans for those of you (like me) that found Jaime’s a bit confusing, and/or needed a DIY Christmas tree stand for a larger tree.įirst off, I will admit that I built this thing twice… You can put your woodworking skills to the test by making a "box" for your Christmas tree or you could simply create a knitted collar that will make your entire room feel cozy. This DIY Christmas tree stand is actually a knock-off of Jaime’s over at, but I had to adjust it a bit to fit my larger tree base and I wanted my tree to be off of the ground – so I needed it to have a shelf insert as well. Ahead, you'll find tons of ideas for decorative tree stands and tree collars that will match any style, whether you love vintage Christmas decorations or a more modern look. Try making a stand of your own that will not only beautify your tree, but keep it sturdy and in place as well. Sure, displaying all types of Christmas trees on the plastic stands you buy at the store is an option, but there are so many beautiful homemade alternatives. Sure, it requires a little extra time to make, but a homemade element is always worth it. After you've gathered those homespun decorations and picked out a Christmas garland, there's one final element you'll need for the heavy lifting: pretty DIY Christmas tree stands! These are absolutely necessary to help bring together a festive display of Christmas decorations. She's definitely on the DIY ornaments train, preferring ones she's had since childhood or sentimental gifts over a big set of store-bought ornaments. If you're like Ree Drummond, you have opinions about Christmas tree decorations. No doubt the success of "Incense and Peppermints" contributed to splitting the Rainy Daze in early 1968, but Gilbert nevertheless signed to White Whale to record one final Daze single, "Make Me Laugh," backed by L.A. Gilbert and Carter added lyrics and a new melody, titling the finished song "Incense and Peppermints." Thee Sixpence cut the new tune, renamed themselves the Strawberry Alarm Clock immediately thereafter, and in late 1967 topped the Billboard pop charts. However, by this time Gilbert and Carter were earning notice as a crack songwriting duo, and via Slay earned a crack at revamping a demo track cut by an unknown psych-pop outfit known as Thee Sixpence. After an LP, That Acapulco Gold, and a Tim Gilbert solo single, "Early October," UNI dropped the group. release but still failing to crack pop radio. The follow-up, "Fe Fi Fo," was quickly deleted and reissued under the new and improved title "Blood of Oblivion," even securing a U.K. The Rainy Daze quickly resurfaced with "Discount City," which went nowhere. Once radio programmers finally intuited the song's pro-marijuana content, it was pulled from play lists coast to coast. When the single caught fire locally the fledgling UNI label snapped up national distribution rights, but with "That Acapulco Gold" at number 70 on the Billboard charts, the bottom fell out. A massive publicity campaign was in the planning stages when the spectacular failure of his magnum opus, Ike & Tina Turner 's "River Deep, Mountain High," left Spector 's career in shambles the Rainy Daze were among the collateral damage, and only in 1967 did their debut single, "That Acapulco Gold" - written by Tim Gilbert in collaboration with his college roommate John Carter - appear on Denver producer Frank Slay 's Chicory label. Comprised of singer/guitarist Tim Gilbert, his brother Kip on drums, lead guitarist Mac Ferris, bassist Sam Fuller, and keyboardist Bob Heckendorf, the group started as little more than a covers act, nevertheless parlaying a string of frat party gigs into a local television appearance that reportedly caught the attention of famed producer Phil Spector, who extended a management contract. Psychedelic pop combo the Rainy Daze formed in Denver, CO, in 1965. I have experience with several professional design courses and none of them teaches Affinity products. I've never worked with printers of prepress who are geared up for Affinity products. I've never worked in a design studio where Designer has been installed on the Macs. Most professional designers and people in the design chain have never heard of Designer. Most people who use Affinity Designer are hobbyists. Most people on this forum use Use Affinity Designer. It covers maybe 5% of Illustrator's tools, and some of those are so poorly implemented that they are unusable. Ad, ap and apb are my holy trinity.įirst off, Affinity Designer does not come even close to providing the tools that Illustrator does. It's a great software in its own right, and it's been 6 months now and I will never ever go back to Adobe. But I've worked around every single issue. If you see the official forum you'll see all that people are asking for, some for years and still no where in sight. I doesn't have trace, warp and magic fill, and some other important features. I find it very user friendly, irrespective of what people say.Īlls not perfect in ad though. I bought photo and publisher, and they are equally great. Worked on some really illustration heavy files on my basic laptop, it worked perfect. It's just a terrible software, sure I give credit for being free, and worked upon by some passionate talented individuals, but man it's so damn buggy. I don't understand how people even work on inkscape. Never ever looked back on illustrator (and Corel draw) and it was an over night change. Made the switch coz I couldn't afford it. You can do logo design, but i find it challenging compared to Inkscape.īeen using illustrator since the early 2ks. In my opinion, AD isnt so much an AI clone but a vector program for illustrators, with a focus on drawing. Plus Inkscape has a live tracing function.ĪD's advantages over Inkscape are: CMYK, a layer system with one object per layer, easy clipping and masking, Pixel Persona and an interface designed for professional artists. Inkscape's snapping system is in some aspects superior to AD's and i also like the Bezier Tool better. It also has no live trace or a Pathfinder Tool. So no Blend, Warp effects that are vector, no real vector brushes (AD's brushes are bitmaps stretched along a path), no filter, etc. I got into AD because i was fed up with the bugs and limitations of Inkscape, but keep going back, because AD isnt all that perfect.įor example: AD has no effects other than Power Duplicate. And it doesnt appear to be the programmers plan to add more tools in this series. That means, should there ever be a Designer 2.0, you'll have to pay again. The cost is only for one series, as far as i understand it.
